Early morning found me heading out to the realm of the enchantment of yard sales. This being the week of the 800 miles, only today I only traveled maybe a block for my first outing.
A woman who just maybe a block away in our neighborhood, of whom I had never met.
Today, we not only met, but I helped her put her things out and about and guided her through the process of selling.
She had another friend trying to help also. We even recruited my neighbor that I did know to help. We had a wonderful time of helping and making good neighbor relations a fun and wonderful time.
It was exhausting as she had so much stuff over 6 years worth that she had been packing away to have such an event one day.
This lady, 5 year recovering stroke victim, with serious medical problems, still working her same job of 40 years.
It was the very least that we could do to help.
In the end of things we were all exhausted. Her final outcome was very good monetarily wise, but this lady was truly worn down, however she had a wonderful smile, and called me later to thank me and the other neighbor. : )
I left after about 6 hours and went to another sell, I found a lovely bench, that converts into a picnic table, I will take a picture tomorrow of it.
Some very lovely embroidered pillow cases, some lovely fenton glass.
Oh so many beautiful things being produced from garages, and sheds, and attics.
This will be my last few days of exploring, as I have so many things and projects and such to accomplish.
In this years event however, I have met some wonderful people, with lots of stories.
I am so tired this evening, and sorry for not a very exciting blog, but none the less a morsal of the day.
: )

I am not a fan of sales as I have already said, nor am I a fan of rummaging in charity shops... I simply don't have the patience. So it is only myself I have to blame at feeling a little envy when I read of friends buying lovely old embroidered tablecloths which can be turned into something else, for mere pennies... of embroidered pillowcases, and tray cloths, all old and perfect, and CHEAP!
The PFG doesn't know what she is missing foes she MLH?!
Love thrift shops and sales of all kind the older the stuff the better as far as I'm concerned.
How nice of you to have met a new friend and helped her out. A very satisfying day I think.
