Last night for the first time in quite a long time,I actually got a really good restful sleep. I felt so refreshed this morning, and to wake to steaming coffee made by my hubby, and an announcement that we had snow, it was a wonderful way to greet the day.
Our last few week-ends have been given over to a mission run, and between times have been in trying to stabilize the things at home.
It has been for the last couple of months an emotional roller coaster with things.
Now, it seems to be settled down, and all is calm for the moment.
I so appreciate these calm times, a chance to rest, and reflect.
I began writing about our family history at Roanoke Island, and of course the more I wrote, the more I investigated the history of the Island. Aside from the first English colony there, there is the history of the role the Island played in the civil War.
Save all that for another time.
That involves the story of things found in the attic there.
Trying to record moments in time are often difficult as to mis-information, and I certainly had plenty of that.
Due of course to my remembrances of names and places, and guess what?
Most of them were incorrect. So I have had to go back and recapture this with the help of some wonderful folks still remaining there on the Island.
I might add that two ladies of which I have correspondence with have been absolutely wonderful in helping me put the correct names together.
I knew most of them by their nick-names, which I did have those right.
I am enjoying this writing project, looking back almost 50 years ago is to say the least very interesting, at least to me.
Well, I am off to catch up some over due laundry, and enjoy more coffee, and snow.
: )
